We
clearly live in uncertain times. The fate of Planet Earth
becomes more and more uncertain every day indeed that we
are getting closer to the Second Coming of the Messiah is soon. However, many
Believers have become extremely overanxious of
prophesied events, indeed exemplifying a mentality of
paranoia, and may allow Bible prophecy to motivate every
area of their daily lives.
The Apostle Paul admonishes us to "not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit...to the effect that the day of the Lord has
come" (2
Thessalonians 2:2). The Prophet Amos tells us, "Alas, you who are longing for the day of
the LORD, for what purpose
will the day of the LORD be to you?"
(Amos 5:18).
Although every Believer should eagerly seek the return of
our Lord Yeshua, we must all remember to keep a valid an
active testimony for Him, not on where we are in a
constant state of "crying wolf."
This section addresses many of the phenomenon
that can be labeled "end-time paranoia" (also
known as "end-time mind control,"
"end-of-the-world fever,"
"end-of-the-world-is-tomorrow syndrome," and a
host of other names). How are certain individuals going too
far with their interpretations of Bible prophecy? How
do we study prophecy and analyze current events realistically
and tactfully?
