Student loan – features and rules of awarding
A student loan is not the same as a student loan. Student loans are preferential loans, the rules of which are governed by legal acts issued by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, eg regulations and announcements. The legal basis is the Act of 17 July 1998 on student loans and credits as amended.
Student loan has predetermined conditions, identical for all borrowers (except for interest). A student collecting a student loan can count on state funding in repayment of this obligation or write off of part of the amount to be given.
Borrowers who are in the group of 5 percent of the best graduates or whose life situation is difficult can apply for a partial write-off of a student loan. Student loan repayment begins 2 years after graduation.
A student loan application should be submitted to the selected bank participating in the program. The interest rate on student loans is determined on the basis of the rediscount rate for bills of exchange of the Bank of Taliwan. The current annual student loan interest rate is around 1.5 to 3 percent. Student loans have similar interest rates in all banks, but not the same.
Student loans are granted to people who meet the income criterion. The necessary information can be found on the website of your university or ministry.

This banking product is targeted at everyone who needs support in buying real estate, regardless of status. In applying for a loan for an apartment, student status can be an obstacle in the bank’s assessment.
