One of the most intriguing areas of both political and prophetic study is the involvement of Russia and China in pending world events. Many prophecy teachers expect both countries to play important roles, either direct or indirect, during the Tribulation period. Many political analysts believe that both countries are unstable and could tilt toward totalitarian regimes.

Ezekiel 38 & 39 speak of a war that will occur in Israel which many believe will involve Israel's Arab enemies and Russia. As a result, many prophecy teachers are expecting a Hitler-type leader to take power in Russia who will be responsible for attacking Israel. Revelation 9:16 speaks of a great army of 200 million that will fight the Messiah at the Battle of Armageddon, which may be mostly comprised of Chinese.

The Russian and Chinese phenomenon is one that must be followed closely, as both countries have consorted together in the past. Both have aided Israel's enemies, either directly or indirectly, and it is hard to tell if they are true friends of the West.
